Dry Camping: Lake Alamo State Park

Lake Alamo State Park  is located east of Lake Havasu, AZ. We packed up our toy hauler and visited in October. It wasn’t too busy; not too hot and not too cold. It was “Just Right!”

At night we were serenaded by wild burros and coyote. The park is located next to some really nice ATV trails.

The lake is a beautiful. Sadly, you can’t eat the fish because they have too much mercury in them. The Park Rangers said that the mercury levels in the fish haven’t changed, but the regulators lowered the safe level, so the fish are now deemed unsafe. The guys were only able to catch and release fish.

The park offers full hook ups, water & electric spaces, dry camping, tent camping, group sites and cabins. There’s boat ramps, docks, rest rooms, showers, chemical toilets, a dump station and camp store. Reservations are easy to set up via the AZ State Park website. There a also areas you could dry camp outside the park.

We will revisit this park.

Stay Curious, Be Blessed.
